I downloaded and installed the latest updates to Windows 7 and now when I start my PC, I receive a message "Fatal error C0000034 applying operation 233 of 77897 (...00000...) ". I have tried the repair option but I get the same message. I don't know what to do next and am trying to avoid reinstalling the OS from scratch. HP Pavillion 64 Bit

Try this: Boot from the Windows 7 DVD or Windows Recovery Environment (F8) and from the command prompt run this command:

    DISM /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

If that doesn't work, go back and instead a command prompt, start system restore & restore to a point prior to the latest update that caused the problem (probably SP1).

I was successful in doing a restore from a previous date and am back up and running. I had to use the original Windows 7 disk to get me to that point. I did the repair and it allowed me to get to a restore point.

    Thanks for your help!
