My daughter has an ASUS laptop that is about 9 months old. Recently it stopped responding to the touchpad, that is, the cursor will not move. It will work until she logs into her account, then it stops. It works ok with a USB mouse. I haven't had a chance to check the Control Panel yet.

Does anyone have a suggestion about what could be wrong or what to check when I get to the Control Panel?

Right click on My Computer on Desktop > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Expand Mice and other pointing devices > Double click Synaptics Touchpad > What does Device Status say?
Troubleshoot can be used to help diagnose problem. Neil.
