Will data from IDE HD's be easily migrated/transferred to SATA HD's?

I am aware that converting to W7 requires software updates. Just wondering about moving data.

Yes - an IDE drive will see a SATA drive in exactly the same way that it would see another IDE drive. i.e. as simply another hard drive.

So, Pete, as I understand this, I can put my my old data drive in the new computer w/Windows 7 OS on primary drive, load software under virtual machine XP OS, and still have secondary data drive from old IDE computer? (until I convert all software to W7 compatibility)

Yes you can, but I would advise you to copy all your data from your IDE to SATA because as per your other post, the IDE hard disk is an old one. The data would probably be safer on new hard disk & it would be faster to access it.
