DgiVecp service failed to start

Win 7 Pro on Intel 1156 socket MB with a 2.80 gigahertz Intel Core i7 860 CPU and 8GB ram.

I have seen this issue handled on the Win XP forum, and I tried both the devmgr and regedit solutions but the DgiVecp item was nowhere to be found.

Problem is my machine has locked-up/frozen twice lately. The event viewer log shows the following msg
The DgiVecp service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the device specified.

I do not know whether this is the exact problem, but the fact that I could not find DgiVecp is kind of interesting.
Suggestions?

Do you have (or have installed in Programs in Control Panel) either:
Dell 1815dn (multifunction laser printer) or a Samsung printer ?

If so, uninstall the program, then Restart. Has the issue now gone?

If you still use the above printers re-download the most up to date software

Tks Kimsland. Have downloaded and installed latest driver for my Samsung CLP-500N color laser printer. We'll see how it goes from here.

dgivecp sys

On 3/19/10 it happened again, dagnabit!
I did find DgiVecp.sys in Windows\System32\Drivers; and referenced in Program Files(86)\Samsung\... in several places.

I found another suggested remedy; in the Registry, change the Value Data entries from 1 or 2, into 4 (Disable) and watch to see if anything breaks. I chose to do this. Other option is to rename dgivecp.sys file in the System32 folder. I figured the renaming stands a better chance of 'breaking' some function, so I did not do that.

And yes, now it appears to be broken. I cannot print a pdf or a txt file to the Samsung printer. Soooo..., I am going back to Regedit and restoring each of the 'Start' entries to Value Data 2 (AutoLoad) , and see what happens.

dgivecp.sys

By George, I believe she's got it!!
After changing each of the Registry 'Start' entries Value Data to 2 (AutoLoad) , upon re-booting the Samsung printer did print both the pdf and txt files which it had waiting in queue. I then also did another successful test print of a pdf document.

Altering the value of each 'Start' entry was my only action, and it seems (so far) to be all that is necessary for printer functionality.

All together now, Hoo...rrah!
But wait, we do not know if this change is going to re-enable the damndable re-boot aggravation. Sigh..., we shall see.

I got same problem, DgiVecp service failed to start, just after I installed a printer Samsung CLP-315 Laser Color. I am investigating and tray the above solution.
