:D my cursor keeps locking up with no reason. I looked through past reference on this problem in your file and tried everything. Nothing seems to work. I'll be scanning a page and suddenly nothing. Yjrr computer does not shut down, only the arrow refuses to move. If I force close and restart I will be fine for a few min. and the locked again. This happens on IE8 and also on plain old solitaire--What can I do???

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Are you using a wireless mouse? I experienced a similar problem some time ago where the mouse froze each time I safely removed a particular USB external drive. As I recall the drive and the mouse transmitter USB connection were in the same port - separating them to different ports resolved the issue.

A USB mouse, which I always have plugged in as reserve continued to function.

Does the cursor freeze with a USB mouse - given that you are using a wireless mouse?

    Hi Tom,

Ditto Pete's "Welcome ". To add to Pete's advice, when was the last time you cleaned or replaced the batteries — assuming you're wireless?

Unfortunately I am not wireless. I have a H/P Pavilion model 6512 with their mouse and MSN and Windows Vista installed. I removed Vista, put in Windows 7, upgraded my Norton coverage and had Norton run a full check and upgrade. This problem started about two weeks ago and is more annoying than anything. As Said it is random and can occur at any time and not when I am doing a specific thing. Thanks for your welcomes and thank you for your input. Anything else that may help will be appreciated greatly! Tom

Can you provide us with the make\model of the mouse, please? You'll see the model # on the bottom.

You may have to reinstall the drivers, and the above info will help.

Standard practice is to try another mouse - can you do this?

Have you tried the mouse in another USB port?
