A PC with Windows 7 Professional was installed with Windows XP Mode. For some reasons, the Windows XP Mode was restarted and the Windows XP Log On screen appeared, but at a un-readable resolution. The User Name field was accidentally erased. The user tried a few times but could not guess the correct user name and password.

What is the default User Name and Password of the the WIndows XP Mode?

If the User Name and Password cannot be recovered, how can the Windows XP Mode be re-installed? What about the installed XP Mode applications?

Are you the "user "? If not - what user name do you have on your system?

    You might consider UNinstalling VirtualPC.

The "user" is the default user account created by Windows when the Windows XP Mode is being installed. I installed it once on a Windows 7 Prof, and it's something like "XP Mode User ", or isn't it?

The default user should be "XPMUser ".

Steve, it's simpler to re-install XP Mode and Virtual PC than to recover the password. I also prefer creating an additional user account with administrator's privilege as a backup recovery account in order to avoid re-installation.
