I have a Windows 7 Dell PC which I use only 6 months a year. On start-up 68 Windows updates tried to load automatically. The PC froze after 38. I got it running again and restored to a previous date and set up "No auto updates." Now I have 78 plus Silver Light updates.

How many can I choose to download at a time?

    Must they be in order?

Must I load Silver Light? I use Seamonkey 99% of the time

Any tips so don't get into trouble?

    Thanks-
    Carl

I personally dislike Silverlight of which I am regularly pestered with it Just unlick the box beside Silverlight and then right click, choosing "Hide ". In the end it no longer shows or at long intervals.

Hi car13lin, Silverlight isn't necessary for your PC to run. Just make sure the update is not checked and RIGHT click and Hide.
Are you sure you have 78+ of the same update?
Seamonkey won't be affected by a lack of Silverlight.
Remember to check WU and keep your OS current with all Security patches and Updates. Anything offered by MS which is not Important, Vital or necessary do not install. ie., Optional. Neil.

Hi car13lin. You don't need Microsoft Silverlight at all so I would do as Neil instructed and hide the update. As for the other Windows Updates, just install 10 updates at a time, reboot the machine after those updates install, then install the next 10 batch of updates until all the updates have been installed.

Yes there are 78 Windows updates plus 10-12 Silver Light. I'll do the 78 Windows updates 10 at a time as suggested...with full shutdown after each.
