Double clicking left button, on HD opens content but jumps to a random software installed. But a single click enables to choose software title required. What is causing this to happen all of a sudden.

Hi Bobby, have you had a look in Control Panel > Mouse > are all the settings OK? Neil.

Hi Neil, checked Device Manager under Mice. Microsoft Optical Mouse 1000 (Intellipoint). Mouse functions satisfactory when clicking Left Mouse Button once, if clicked twice then it opens HD but opens a software at random, usually first shown. Thanks Bobby.

Is this a wireless mouse? Weak batteries can cause weird issues.

Microsoft Optical Mouse 1000 is a cable USB connection. As pointed out, it functions properly as long as the mouse button is clicked only "once ", results rather slow to finalise.

Could be dirty contacts under the button. Try switching the mouse from right to left hand in the control panel under Mouse.

Hard to say, at least five years. In Control Panel, nothing showing to able switch over buttons. As long that only one click is applied it is ok, except it takes longer to open the HD window.

Control Panel\Mouse\Buttons. Just under the Left Button, Right Button, and Both Buttons. There is a check box for Swap left and right button functions of USB mouse. Put a check mark in that box then click Apply and then Ok. Not sure, but it may be time for a new mouse.

Found that by clicking the Slider completely to Slow is an improvement.

Did you try doing what was said in post 7 and 9 to see if it helped. You can change it back as easy as you changed it to start with.

Methods in both instances had no results. Thanks Bobby.
