Hello. The event viewer is throwing an error about "Local Driver Service ". The exact quote is:

"Local Driver Service terminated because the specified file cannot be found "

My question is how can I tell which file cannot be found.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, have you looked in Device Manager to see if you have any Exclamation marks?
Are ALL your drivers up to date including Software/Program updates? Neil.

No issues showing in device manager. Drivers are all up to date. What irritates me about the error code is its lack of specificity. In services.msc the "Local Driver Service" is showing an automatic start but fails when trying to start and throws this code.

    Thanks for the reply.

Do you have any USB devices attached? Or did you and have now removed them? These may include cell phone, cameras or GPS devices that are often seen as external drives.

Also, make sure the timestamp of these errors in Event Viewer are current.

Yes, I have connected USB devices and remove them as I understood one could with PNP. I am not sure about where you are going with this question. Please clarify. And yes the timestamps are correct.

I have this issue as well, the event viewer won't start at all, it's service fails to start over a couple of other related services that also won't start. I don't know why it does it, but it doesn't bother me that much, I just don't have event viewer. I have gone into services and tired starting everything, but I never had any luck.

Hi mmullen2. Is the Windows Event Log service started and running? Does Event Viewer open successfully or not?

Event viewer errors seems to be fine showing new events as they occur.

I am trying determine if you have attached devices and if the error still happens if they are removed.

Hmmm, I am at a loss here. And on the other two (that I found) forum you asked this question, I see no solutions found either.

As a long shot, you might try running from an elevated (as administrator) command prompt, sfc /scannow (note the space after the c) and maybe it will find some errors and hopefully fix them.

Ok, situation resolved. It was a bad driver for the card reader.

    Thanks to everyone who responded.

That's odd because I thought we had eliminated that possibility when you said earlier,
So what did you do? Reinstall the driver?

Also, don't forget to re-visit all the other sites where you posted this problem and post the resolution there too.
