when i started my desktop today, it decided on not playing any audio.
although my audio realtek driver is properly installed and up to date, it says the speakers are unplugged ! windows media player insists that no audio device is installed.
there is nothing wrong with the speakers, i tried it on my laptop and it worked just fine.
i searched online and i didnt find any working solution
    all audio services are enabled
i uninstalled and reinstalled the driver several times
i uninstalled and reinstalled my codecs
    i replaced dsound.dll with a new one
microsoft audio fixit tool couldnt fix it
    system restore didnt work
tried plugging the speakers into the front, still no sound
    any help plz?

    windows 7 64 bit
    builtin realtek audio

Did you by any chance updated the driver through Windows Update ?

How ? Do you have the motherboard cd or did you download the drivers ?

You most likely have a hardware problem.

If you reinstalled Windows and installed the latest driver for your audio device and that hasn't worked then you can either install a dedicated sound card or buy a new motherboard.

Hi honnelsihonn, Welcome to WindowsBBS. :) Thanks for taking the time to enter your System Details but it would help us more if you did give more "detail" like model and version numbers.
Download 'Speccy' or Sandra Lite or Everest. These are available at FileHippo under System Tuning.
You will discover all you need to know about the bits and pieces in your comp and then you can fill in your System Details which enables BBs members to help a lot more accurately. Cheers Neil.
