It is most frustrating of being unable to remember what to type in the "cmd " mode, to close the window and end session. I have searched all notes saved over the years without success. Can anyone help? Thanks, Bobby.

From the command prompt type "exit" no quotes and press enter. That only closes the cmd window. To shutdown the whole OS there is a "shutdown" command with several switches available. Try to Google info about "shutdown syntax ".

Thank you for both answers, appreciated. Exit has been carefully noted for future reference. Thank you, Bobby.

Course you can also click the Red X in the upper right.

FWIW, my X is black, but clicking it is the only way I close a Command Prompt window.
