PC doesn't stay in sleep mode. Have regulated power options to comply i.e 'put the computer to sleep in 15 minutes, hybrid sleep off, never hibernate and disable wake timers'. Please advise.

Hi norco1. I would try performing a clean boot in Windows 7 to see if a 3rd party program is causing the computer to resume from sleep without your input. Take a look here, How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

thanks for the input. question: how will a clean boot reveal the particular service affecting sleep mode?

Initially you will disable all services except MS services and restart the computer.

If the issue is resolved - one of the disabled services is the cause.

Re-enable non MS services one at a time testing after each restart until the service which is causing the issue is isolated.

I can't sleep, so I'll lay down and hibernate. So far, so good and thanks

If you have any extra peripheral devices connected to the machine such as scanners, external hard drives, or printers, disconnect them and try putting the computer to sleep again.
