I seem to have picked up some sort of virus called Strongvault. It did have an icon in my toolbar and was an installed program which I have now uninstalled. However, periodically when I click on a desktop icon, it starts installing again.

I can stop the installation but would like to get rid of the malware completely. A search for Strongvault yields no results.

Strongvault is a free ad supported online backup program and shouldn't be tied to other desktop icons.

You should be able to remove it through it's uninstall menu item or through the control panel uninstall process.

In some circumstances, you may need to use Microsoft's fix it program. They have instructions on their website on how to use it if you're not familiar with it - http://strongvaultfree.com/pages/uninstall_help.

    Good luck!
