Hi, I bought the disks from acer but cant get them to boot the computer. The instructions that came with the disks says put in the system disk and reboot then to hit f12 and choose boot from cd but it never goes to that screen. It goes to a screen labeled windows boot manager and says, Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1 Insert your windows installation disk and restart yoru computer
2 Choose your language settings, and then click next
    3 Click repair your computer
If ou do not have this disk, contact your system adm or computer manufactureer for assistance
    status: 0x000000f
info: the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
So what should I do now?

You need to keep pressing the F12 key right after you turn the laptop on. You got those messages because your laptop was trying to boot off of the hard drive, and apparently enough of windows isn't there.

Go into the BIOS and look for the BOOT Sequence setting and change it to boot off the cd/dvd drive.

Maybe it attempted to prompt you to put in the second disk and you didn't see it?

But yes - 2 hours is too long.

When I put in the system disk and hit f12 it goes to boot manager with 3 options:
    1 IDE 0: WDC WD1600BEVT-22ZCT0
    2 IDE 1: HL-DT-STDVDRAM GT30N
3 Network Boot: Atheros Boot Agent

I used 2 and it just got stuck, so what should i do now?

You shouldn't have to reboot to put the 2nd disk in. It should tell you when to do it. It may reboot on its own before it asks for the next disk.

Try blowing the dust out of your dvd drive with a compressed can

ok used canned air and blew the cd drive out, now when I put the system disk in, the cd drive is makeing a clicking sound and goes back to the windows boot manager with the message Windows failed to start.....
I dont think the cd is working now, can I use some sort of cable to hook to a different laptop and use that cd drive to boot my laptop???

You'd need to look in the same spot in the BIOS to see if it has an option to boot from a USB/External device. If you do, you could use a cd/dvd drive that connects via USB.

I'm still trying to find a external cd drive so i can try to reboot this laptop, as stated above, after blowing the drive off with canned air it wont work now, it just makes a clicking sound. The system disck wont load now. I have this other laptop I wonder if I could hook a usb cable to it and use the c/d drive to reboot???

Got a external drive and tried to load the disks, it stalled on the first recovery disk at 29% with the new set of disks from acer. so now i'm thinking the hard drive is toast?

ok i downloaded that and burned it to cd put it in the external cd drive and turned the computer on, made sure it was booting from the external cd and get the same message as the origional: Windows Boot Manager, info: The booot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. Should i take this computer to a repair shop or buy a new hard drive or what???
