Resolved win7 in gateway MX6424 - touchpad tbl

I have loaded Win 7 in my Gateway MX6424 laptop, and it works fine, with the exception of the touchpad, which can't be adjusted as the drivers originally provided only work in win XP. Struck out looking for an updated driver in Gateway as they only support XP on this model. I normally use a Logitech trackball which works fine too. My problem is that frequently when I am typing, my hand will graze the touchpad and move the cursor with disastrous consequences.
The touchpad is manufactured by Synaptics, but they refer you to the PC manufacturer for drivers.

Does anyone know how I can obtain a Synaptics driver I can use in my Gateway MX6424 running Win7?

Your reply was spot-on. Installed the 3140 driver and now have ability to adjust pad sensitivity or even disable it if needed.
