Running windows 7 ultimate on an asus board with 3.0 amd quad core processor.Something within the operating system has caused the system to refuse to d/l and install critical Microsoft updates. A major concern is that it won't allow windows essentials to update with the latest protection files. Also it won't allow updating of any installed programs....e.g. Adobe flash player 11 as it repeatedly tries to update this program and says that it is complete giving a false positive regarding that update. Computer will occassionally lock up and the only way to bring it back online is a hard shutdown which, of course, is not a good thing but nothing else seems to work as I have used task manager to try and shut down whatever programs are running but sometimes I cannot get task manager to open therefore the hard shutdown.
Anyone know of a program or windows tool that will find and correct this problem?
Any help or suggestions will be sincerely appreciated.....thanks.....rocknroller

Malware will cause this. Not saying that is what is doing it. Go to the Malware section and follow the instructions there. At least you will know that you are clean when Broni gets finished checking and helping you.
