Do a drive repair... Any NT based windows, such as an XP disk. Boot to the recovery console and type chkdsk c: /r.

Hi Redsun. Welcome to Windowsbbs!

Try pressing F8 on startup and selecting Last Known Good Configuration. Can you get the computer to boot now? Can the computer boot into Safe Mode?

Sorry but without a Windows 2000 CD or a recovery disk to repair your system you are SOL I'm afraid. Could you maybe borrow one from a friend or family member?

aweston, running a chkdsk /r from a Windows XP CD and not a Windows 2000 disk will have disastrous effects on the computer and will only make the situation worse.

I now have a windows 2000 disk.
I have tried booting the computer wioth the disk.
It stops booting after the process has started mid way.
in order to get out of this I have to punch F3.
That takes me back to the Booting up with windows 2000 screen.

So the computer stops booting from the Windows 2000 CD mid way? What part in the CD boot process does it stop? Have you tried just being patient and letting the computer boot on its own? Sometimes it can take a few minutes to boot from the CD.
