I have Realtek HD speakers with a driver version 6.0.1.5928 How do I go about installing the latest driver? Do I install it after I upgrade to Windows 10 or before? Do I uninstall the old one first? Do I let the device manager find the new driver on my computer? I've never updated a driver before so I'm unsure of procedure.

The current driver for Realtec HD audio is compatible with 7, 8, 8.1 & 10 and can be downloaded here .....

I would be inclined to update the driver after upgrading to 10 - your current driver is compatible with 10.

Download the .exe file (125 Mb) and save it to your hard drive. Double click on the file to install and follow the wizard through.

Thanks Pete. I have downloaded the driver and will update only if I have an issue with my current driver, since you said it's compatible with Windows 10.

Yes, I had an earlier driver than yours installed and it worked fine on 10 after the upgrade. I have since updated to the latest driver without issue.
