I will have to load Windows 10 on a desktop soon enough. I read somewhere that Auto Updates cannot be disabled or turned OFF in Windows 10, but it is possible to opt out of 3rd party updates such as drivers, etc. What's the deal with disabling updates completely?

Windows 10 Professional you have same options as windows 7 but that was the technical preview version. Not sure about the final release version. I was going into group policy editor. Run\gpedit.msc\Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Updates\Configure Automatic Updates.

You're Welcome. I was getting a first run wizard and stopped that to. Run\gpedit.msc\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer(might change to Edge?)\Prevent First Run Wizard

Thanks Arie. Microsoft insists on trying to download and install a graphics driver that is not compatible with my machine's integrated graphics. It puts the machine into a boot loop.

Yea, it's not switching off WU, but for some a work-around for (bad behaving) driver updates.

    Right. That can be done.
I still would like have full control over all Windows updates.

I will want full control of updates and will likely disable it completely. In earlier Windows versions the process for updates is wuauclt.exe. Not sure the name in Windows 10, but it could be renamed wuauclt.exe.old.
