    Hi RebeccainTO
    Welcome to Windowsbbs. :)

    Is this your ISP?
    SEDO-1-NET

    and are you in Germany?

I see you have P2P software ([color= "Red"] Limewire, BitTorrent uTorrent etc… [/color]) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation. This page will give you further information.

Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares and their infections.

References for the risk of these programs are here,
    here and here.

I would strongly recommend that you uninstall them, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove these programs, you can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.

Note: Please be advised that continued use of these programs after being warned of the danger of infections from them, may result in the discontinued help of future cleaning of your system here at Windowsbbs Virus and Spyware removal.

    Please do the following.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
    • Choose your usual account.
    • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
    • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

    Now do this.

Download ComboFix from [color= "Red"]Here[/color] to your Desktop.

It's best to disable realtime protection applications as they sometimes interfere with the tool.
Check this link for any applicable programs you may have.
    • Close all open programs and windows
    • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
    • Vista users right click Combofix.exe and select Run As Administrator.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Note - ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making it the default browser.

Note - Combofix makes some changes when run to prevent autorun/autoplay of ALL CDs, floppies and USB devices, to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you to use those devices, please ask how to reset it.

Please post the SDFix log and the ComboFix log.
Let me know if that is your ISP.

    Thanks
    Geri

Please stick with your original thread please - starting a new thread loses support and continuity.

    Hi RebeccainTO
Not sure what you mean by images?
    SDFix should not produce images:confused:

Please email it to me. Check your PM for my email address.

Please post the combofix log here.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi RebeccainTO
OK I got the email thanks.

I believe what is happening is that all posts that have a url in them need to be moderated and approved by a staff member. until you reach a certian post number, I believe it's 5.

So please just post the log and it will be approved and added to the thread.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Combo fix

    Hi Geri,
Combofix has run for 4 hours and leaves me with preparing log, but never finishes. I waited 4 hours before I tried again, and tried 4 times. It runs through the entire check....numbers each part, but no log. Now the desktop is white and reads: Active Desktop Recovery.

I have run HIJACK THIS again, and here is the log:

    Hi RebeccainTO

    OK, Please do this.

Right click on your desktop, click on Properties.
    Click the DeskTop Tab.
Under Backrounds, scroll up and select "None "
    Click Apply then OK.

    Reboot your computer.

Then do the above again but choose the backround you wish to use.

    Click Apply then OK.

Let me know if your backround is back.

    Thanks

    DESKTOP BACK! New HJT Log

    Goodmorning Geri,
Beautiful trees now grace the desktop.....Recovery Screen Gone. Thank-you!
The ComboFix must have run, because the computer seems to have gained speed.
Regarding the SD Fix, even though I am not allowed to email it to you, and it must be screened first, I would have to reduce images from the log - from 11 to 8 - which I'm not sure how to do...
I'm about to read your prevention page....never want this to happen again! Where is a good place to research a new monitor?

I ran a new HJT log.
    Here it is.

    Hi RebeccainTO
Please don't get ahead of me, we still have some work to do and it's best not to download anything unless told to do so, until we make sure you are clean.
    Thanks

Then I STRONGLY suggest you get rid of uTorrent and any other P2P file sharing applications.

    OK
Lets see if combofix left a log.

Click on "Start" >double click "My Computer" >double click "Local Disk C:\ "

    Look for this folder.
    QOOBOX

Please open it if it is there and post the contents of it here.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi
OK Lets do it this way.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe) and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges to complete the following.
    • Close all other windows before proceeding.
    • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
    • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy and then paste the contents of main.txt

Please post the “main.txt” log only for now.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi RebeccainTO

Please move dss.exe to your desktop and then do the following.

** dss.exe must be on the desktop for the following command to work. **

Highlight and copy the bolded command below.

    "%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /daft
    • Click Start>Run and paste the command in the run box, then hit enter.
    • An interface of Deckards file association fix will open.
    • Click Scan.
    • Check the box next to the following, then click Fix.
      • .reg
      • .scr
    • Check the box next to it, then click Fix.
    • Exit when complete.

Click Start> Run and type (or paste) the following lines one at a time into the run box. hit enter after each line.

    sc stop AFinding
    sc stop perfmons
    sc stop Routing

    Now do these

    sc delete AFinding
    sc delete perfmons
    sc delete Routing

    Now please do the following.

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

      Code:
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\perfs.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\routing.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\Driver\i386\ms-java.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\afinding.exe
      C:\Program Files\RXToolBar
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\andt.sys
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\drmgs.sys
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\ope12.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\opeB.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\st_ud.exe

    • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste Standard List of Files/Folders to Move " window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
    • Click the red Moveit! button.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
    • Close OTMoveIt2
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Now please post a new dss log.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Hi
OK I'm not sure how it got here,
    C:\Documents and Settings\win\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\BYBQV8LU\dss[1].exe

When you download a tool (or anything) let it download to the default location or if it says download to your desktop or save to your desktop, in the download window that opens make sure "desktop" is in the "Save in" box at the top of that window.
    See attachment below.

Here is how to get to dss.exe
    Click Start> My Computer> local disk C > Documents and settings > win > Local Settings > Temporary Internet Files > Content.IE5 >BYBQV8LU

dss.exe should be there, Right click on it and click Copy. go to your desktop right click and click paste.

Now you will need to go back and delete the one you just copied from.

Then follow the instructions in my last post.

    Thanks
    Geri
