Windows Vista Configuring Updates Step 3 of 3 - 0% Complete problem

    Hi,

    What is the name or number of the update that is responseble for the Configuring Updates Step 3 of 3 - 0% Complete problem?
    Did MS removed it yet from there site?

    No, it is still available from the Microsoft download site.

    Complete solution goes like this:

    1. Boot from the Vista install media, choose your language, time, currency and keyboard settings
    2. Select Repair your computer and your Vista installation
    3. Select System Restore from the System Recovery Options, and select a restore point that was made before the latest Windows Update
    4. After the restore & reboot, do not install any update(s) offered
    5. Install the above update
    6. Reboot
    7. Install any updates listed on Windows Update, reboot
    8. Done!

    Thank you for your helpfull answer.....but what if your system runs on a pre-installed version? I only have a recovery CD:(
    All thats left is a clean installation i quess...

    Step 2->Install updates
    Step 3-> Configure updates

    That's why I refuse to do business with companies that do not supply me with a full installation DVD.

    Now, when you get to the installation screen, I assume you have to re-set your PC. At that point, you should be offered to start in safe mode (next time you restart). When you do start in safe mode, does that work? Some people reported that starting to safe mode allowed the installation to continue.

    If not, I don't have any other suggestions.

    Safe mode whas not an option, did'nt work
    It whas not my system i had to fix, there whas no harmfull data on it...
    I just did the job with the recovery CD;)
