    Hi,

As I dabble a lot with making web pages etc., I need to check how these behave when viewed with IE7, but every time there is this annoying Internet Explorer Information Bar.

I do like that bar for security reasons, but it gets on your nerves when you want to check out your own files from your own computer!

Is there any way to circumvent this bar so that you don't have to every time click a couple of times and be allowed to view files or page from the same computer?

    Thanks - Rista

    Thanks Pete,

I went a little further from the link you gave me and found this page: http://www.phdcc.com/xpsp2.htm

There are several workarounds suggested here and I chose to make the My Computer Zone available in the Internet Security Properties. You can either change the hexadecimal value from 21 to 47 in the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Internet Settings\ Zones\0\Flags or you may use a registry script also given on the same page as an alternative.

In addition to this you would need to ascertain that the value is set to 0 (Lockdown is switched "OFF ") in the following key:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Internet Explorer\ Main\ FeatureControl\ FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN\ iexplore.exe

No more frantic screams from IE7..

Thanks for the pointer - Rista
