Hi I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a laptop running XP Home that I exported my Outlook pst files over the network to my desktop running XP Pro. I then formatted and re-installed software on the latptop and the attempted to import the pst files back into MS Outlook. I receive a message each time ..." is not compatible with this version of personal folders information service ". I have tried all sorts of things and just cannot get it to load the pst file - above message comes up each time. I run Outlook 2002 on both machines. I have saved the pst file to a flash stick and the laptop C drive and nothing seems to work.

Since Outlook 2000 and 2002 use the same format the following may be possible:

Hello Irdreed,

The file size of my pst file is only 1Gb so this shouldn't be the problem.

See if the "workaround" works:

You receive a ".pst is not compatible" error message when you open an Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 .pst file in earlier versions of Outlook

Hi Steve,

Thanks. I tried the workaround but there was no pst folders listed at all in the "Folder List" in the navigation pane. All that is listed is Personal Folders - Deleted Items - Outlook Today - Personal Folders - Calendar - Contacts - Deleted Items etc.

Make a copy of your .pst file as a backup.
Then search for a file called scanpst.exe on your computer. Run it on your pst file to see if it can find any issues.
