    Hi,

I have had this computer for a few months now, but just yesterday, it started behaving strangely.

Everytime I restart/turn on my computer, the "Found New Hardware" Wizard will pop up, and ask me if I would like to connect to Windows Update and install the new hardware. I pick one of the 3 options (Yes, this time only; Yes, and every other time I connect a device; No, don't connect), and the Wizard will search for the "new" hardware. While searching, it will have the text "Unknown" displayed beside the computer icon, instead of the publisher and what-not. Then, after it is done searching, it will say something like "Sorry, we could not find the hardware ". At the bottom, there will be a box saying "Do not notify me to install this hardware again ". I check the box, but the Wizard will always pop back up the next time I restart/turn on the computer.

I have not connected any new hardware from a week before or 2 days ago.

How can I fix this problem? Has anyone else had this problem before? I have also looked through all the guides with related problems to this, but all of them are when there actually IS new hardware installed... but mine has nothing at all plugged it.

Thank you, please help. Do not hesitate to request a better explanation of needed.

Go to Device Manager (Control Panel (switch to classic view) -> System -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager). Let us know what is highlighted as not being installed and if it says "unknown device ", what heading is it under?
