    Some of us are going to have issues when we try to install and run Vista due to old hardware and even most new PC's will not fit the bill according to the Fred langalist news.

    Does anyone know of a new PC right now that meets or exceeds the ness. specs for purchase??

    I need a NEW PC right now !!!

    :eek:

    Yes. there are pleny of new pcs on the market that meet Vista system requirements, and pleny that will be able to take advantage of all of Vista's features.

    I just built myself a new pc that will be able to run Vista and take advantage of the new graphics technologies in Vista. Cost: $598.00 + existing cdrw, dvdrw, floppy, cables & sound card.

    to clarify, the video card should have ample memory of its own and have support for wddm to take advantage of new graphics features like "glass" look.

    Ample = 128 MB DDR3 RAM (Minimum). I think so :)

    64MB for the video card should be enough AFAIK.

    Yea... but the average Joe computer user doesn't have a 30" LCD.

    I run my 2 19" Samsungs off a EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT. 256 MB PCIe, dual DVI...

    The PC may be ready, but the accessories may not. The graphics card has been mentioned, but it may be a while before drivers are for current accessories are available. Examples are your current printer, scanner, soundcard, modem or ADSL equipment and other "plug in" hardware that requires specific drivers.

    If you want to see if your hardware may be getting Vista drivers available, check the manufacturer's download site. If they have x64 drivers, then they will (should?) have Vista drivers ready when it comes.

    If you use the 32-bit version, any WinXP driver will do fine. Now 64-bit is a different story :mad:

    Arie, you mean to say Vista would be available in 2 distinct flavours - 32 bit & 64 bit and 7 other flavours? Is Micro$oft selling ice cream or what ?

    speaking of 64 bit:

    I was in Micro Center a few weeks back and overheard a salesman telling a customer that "this is the pc to buy because it will support Vista when it comes out and Vists will only work on 64 but systems therefore everyone will have to buy new computers ".

    I smiled to myself, thought about butting in and giving my 2 cents, but walked away thinking "who am I to hand out coal at xmas! ".
