after my computer goes into standby I can wake it up by sending a packet to the PC. even pinging the PC will wake it up.

however... after 1 minute of being in standby, I can no longer wake it??

I haven't found anything on the web explaining this.

it's not a router issue as I have 2 computers behind the router.

    thnx,

Can you wake it from shutdown?

Some systems seem to prefer a 'magic packet' of some sort to wake the PC.

You mention other PCs behind the router - do they wake up properly for you?

I can wake from shutdown state but only up to a minute after being shutdown, same with standby.

I do have a "wake up" tool that sends a multicast magic packet with the mac address of the sleeping computer.

I also have a monitoring tool and the "sleeping" PC does recieve the magic packet when awake.

I only have 1 other PC behind the router and I do not believe the motherboard supports wol.

Try tech support for the hardware. Something isn't right. You should be able to wake up a system after days rather than minutes.

you were correct, the default windows driver does not support wol. after a driver update it works fine.
