Hi. Folks, Upon opening Windows XP Home Edition the "My Documents" folder opens at the same time. Any ideas to correct this would be appreciated. Regards, William.

Newt, You describe the problem exactly. Opened the properties of the folder and put a tick at "Make this folder private ". It had no effect. Regards, William.

    Hi William

It was PeteC posting not our good friend Newt :)

Open the URL I posted and scroll down to heading My Documents Folder - Opens Upon Boot - close to the bottom of the page.

Hello Peter,I found the location you refer to. The tweak is not available unless I hand over a fist full of dollard. Many thanks to you and Newt for your time and effort. Regards, William.

Peter, In Winlogon under Userinit how do I get a cursor to change the entry. I see the word 'startup'at the end of the entry.
There is no setting under LOAD. Just a blank space.

Earlier while using Tweak Manager a message stated "sorry not available for this matter (my documents) unless purchased ". I do appreciate your help. Regards, William.

    Hi william,
either right clicking on the setting of userinit and selecting modify from the option popup or double clicking on the key "userinit" will open the popup that allows you to change the value to reflect the desired value C:\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe,

An alternative for manually doing this yourself is a reg patch that you can also download from Kelly's site:
It is number #255 on the right hand side labeled "My Documents Folder Opens Upon Boot (for C:\) ":
    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
    or download directly:
    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/userinit.reg

A reg patch is just an exported value from the registry that when double clicked on will merge the correct value in your registry. You can have a peek into these by opening then in notepad first, if curious or cautious. It saves many who would rather not edit the registry themselves or those who find it more convenient to do reg editing this way.

    Hi Pete,
Hope you don't mind the help. I assume your busy elsewhere. A Moderators work is never done.... :)

No problem at all and thanks :) On the Board intermittently over the past three weeks - away from home as my father (92) broke his hip recently.
