Setup cannot create folder \WINDOWS\Help\Tours\mmTour

    after my computer crashed and I reformated the HD..with the windows xp pro cd.. and i attempt to install windows this is as far as I can get.
    I get the retry option, but it is not helping.. Any ideas?

    still stuck

    after running chkdsk I got one or more errors on the volume. :( could this be stopping me?
    oh and yes the cd i have used before. :p

    It certainly could be causing your problems.

    Recovery console again and run chkdsk /r to let chkdsk do a surface scan and mark any bad sections on your hard drive. After that they should no longer be used and a format & install from the CD should work.

    However, you have a decision to make as to continuing to use a drive that has bad spots on it. No problem unless whatever caused them (mechanical damage maybe) continues to make other sections of the drive unusable. In that case, you are fighting a losing battle to keep a running system unless you replace the disk.
