    Ever since I installed a series of Security Patches from Microsoft, Spybot-Search & Destroy (latest version and latest detection rules), Spybot ''falsely'' detects a Firewall problem. It displays the following (in RED):
    Windows Security Center.FirewallOverride: Settings (Registry change, nothing done)
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\FirewallOverride!=dword:0

    I have ZoneAlarm Pro installed and using this as my Firewall; having turned OFF the Windows Firewall. Prior to installing those Microsoft Security Patches, Spybot DID NOT display the above warning. If I delete the above discrepancy within Spybot, then Windows Security Center displays a warning that I don't have my Firewall turned on. I have to go back and tell it I have my own Firewall that I'm using.

    As stated before, this just happend AFTER installing those Microsoft Security Patches. Any suggestions?

    Hi Ace,

    Which MS patch? You didn't install a bunch of patches all at once did you? Forgive the sarcastic tone, but installing multiple patches all at once w/o knowing the effects of any one of them is bad practice.

    You can ignore the error in Spybot by clicking on the line, that highlights it, then right click and ignore the line from further searches, or cruise the Spybot forum at http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?

    I highlighted the item and selected to "ingore this in the future ". Now the problem is fixed.

    It was one of those multiple updates from Microsoft.

    Hi Ace,

    It was one of those multiple updates from Microsoft
    If you look in the Security Center's AU options:

    "Download the updates, but let me choose when to install them ". You can install each update separately and wait at least a day between each, with any IE patch taking precedence since IE is on the "front line ".

    Regards - Charles
