Only four days after the version 1.0.613 update, I got a popup notice today that another Update was available. This time to 1.0.614. The update includes the latest definition files. Note that both new versions are valid until Dec. 31, 2005--a six month extension.
More info here (as well as download).

Thanks for the heads up, Jim.

I feel sure there is something not quite right with the MSAS updating service. I have 1.0.613 and checking for updates tells me that I have the latest software, which apparently I do not. The same occurred with the update to 1.0.613 which I learned of through the Newsletter.

I have auto update enabled, but sometimes check manually. Maybe that is the problem?

Yea, I'm still waiting to see what happenes too :(

I have mine set for AutoUpdates, and I'm still at 1.0.501. If I do a manual update check, it says I'm up-to-date.... Spyware defs are (June 26 right now), but main program obviously not.

I'm waiting to see if I will get a new version before the end of July, when the .501 version will expire.

    Hi You lucky people.
Read my post in the XP forum.

    Edit by PeteC http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?p=246201

I downloaded the Anti-Spyware update, and it broke. It tells me now to un-install and re-install, but unfortunately the update to the Windows Installer broke that too, so that I can neither remove or install programmes.
I knew that life had been too calm for a long time!

Happy to report that I just ran a scan with v1.0.614 without any problem. Definition updates are now current as of today (June 29) so another batch was loaded today. I got those current as of June 28 when I downloaded the 1.0.614 engine yesterday.
Arie--I got an automatic popup notice of v1.0.613 only on Monday even though word was out sometime last week. So it would seems MS is rolling the updates out to groups of people each day. In this case, perhaps just as well for you, since v1.0.613 must have had a problem. However, you mention engine 1.0.501. I think I had engine 1.0.509 prior to this week. See link in my first post in this thread. So something may not be working on your auto update notification.

    Arie,
I use Microsoft AntiSpyware as a scanner and have removed it from the "run section" in the registry. I was at 1.0.501 and definitions after updating is 5729. I did a scan and left it running when finished. After a while I was notified of a new version. I downloaded and installed 1.0.614 which expires on 31 dec 2005.

Do You have a similar modus operandi?

    Christer

It looks like .501 "auto update" (or manual "check for updates ") doesn't work :(

I had .509 installed on Longhorn, and it notified me today about the new version, upgraded to version .614

Well, have to take that back.... :)

Should have waited a little longer. I had downloaded the new version, but didn't install it yet. This morning .501 prompted me for the update, so it looks like the update is being done according to the version installed. First the newer versions, and now it is the turn for the older ones...

Definition update loop in 615 build

Forgive me if this is posted somewhere. I did the fix for 614 build when it wouldn't update definitions properly. (kept installing same ones over and over again. I tried that fix for 615 even though gcUncompress.dll was correct size. Didn't help. So anyone got any ideas. updating manually is a pain. Is there a manual removal instruction somewhere so I can do a true clean install?

    Thanks :(

Alicia J--My experience is that MS takes its time getting to everyone with updates. However, based on the problems you are having, perhaps it is best to uninstall and reinstall. You can uninstall from Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs|Microsoft AntiSpyware.

    Hi Welshjim,

I have done that, but I tried again. This time I deleted MSAS dll files from system32. I also deleted all temp files, and program\msas folder and recycle bin, ran reg.cleaner as before. Yippee, that worked. darn those left behind system32 dlls!

How do you make a signiture bold?

    Alicia J--
So, you are saying Add/Remove left a bunch of .dll's behind? Good info.

Here is how you bold a signature {b}Alicia{/b}, but you would actually substitute [ whereever I show {. Same for }. I think you have solved this in another post.

yes add/remove did leave some dlls behind. Solved my problem once I deleted
them manually. Now let's see if my sig works.

edit: I'm just stupid about these sig things. I'll just do it manually I guess.
