Hi All. I currently have Word 97 and am running Outlook Express on this XP Home machine. Word is the only part of Office 97 I kept after installing the whole suite some years ago and then uninstalling everything else shortly thereafter. I'm not sure why I uninstalled Outlook 97, probably because of difficulties using it.

I now have in my possession an Office 2003 Student and Teachers Edition CD which I purchased for the kids. It came with a little manual that to say the least is sketchy on details.

Question is, should I install Outlook 2003 on the three machines which are networked. (LAN,cable) How difficult is the transition and is there any advantage to using Outlook over Outlook Express?

Any and all responses will be appreciated, and the more information the better.

    Take care,

    Martin

Over the years I've tried several versions of Outlook, and never made the change, that was, untill Outlook 2003.

I changed, and never looked back at OE :D

Thanks Steve, that link helped some, leaning toward leaving Outlook Express based on that description. At least for now, I don't see the need for Outlook's various additional features.

Arie, what is it about Outlook 2003 that you use and like more than OE?

Thanks to both for your responses.

    Take care,

    Martin

I use Outlook 2003 at the office. Basically, it has more bells and whistles than previous versions. Saved mail is also in a different format that took care of a 2gig file size limit issue.

Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate the info. Looks like I should stick with Outlook Express for the 3 machines, all mostly personal use.

    Take care,

    Martin

For me it was both the much better rules (to filter email to one of my 75+ folders), and I needed a Calendar utility anyway :D

Also I now have an add-on that automatically processes several attachments I get every day (server log files & database backups) and files them where I want them.
