I have set up a new profile under Netscape 7.2 with new mail settings. I would like to copy mail folders, bookmarks etc from an old folder to the new one. When I copy all the files including mail folders it changes my mail account settings in my new profile. How do I get around this problem?

    Welcome to the Forum, rgm88!

    rgm88,

Copy only the files from your Mail Account folder, without the MSF extension, to the new Profile, i.e., Inbox, Drafts, Templates, Sent, etc. Also copy any SBD folders, which contain your subfolders. Don't copy the MSF files in these folders either, only the files with no MSF extension.

If you have Mail in the new Profile, then rename the mail files in the old profile, to OldInbox, OldDrafts, etc. By doing so you won't overwrite the existing Mail.

Post back with any further questions.

    Ramona,

Thank you, but when I copy files from the from the old profile root directory which contains the bookmarks etc. it still overwrites my mail settings. There are no MSF files in this directory. If I try copying just the bookmarks file does not seem to work.

    rgm88,

Are you renaming the Inbox, etc., files? If so, it won't overwrite existing Mail.

The bookmarks.html file can also be imported. Have you tried importing, or are you doing a copy/paste.

Another way to import Bookmarks, is to EXport them from the old Profile as an ldif file, and then import the ldif file into the new Profile.

You are copying from one Netscape 7.2 Profile to another, or that is the way I am reading your post. Is this correct?
