I was wondering if anyone knew of free software that enables you to track when a local user types in the wrong password at the login prompt. this would be very helpful!!! I am running windows xp home.

You should be able to set Windows XP (cant recall if Home can do it) to audit for login attempts. This is in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy.

There will be a setting in there somewhere to audit logon attempts. You then simply view them in the event viewer (Security section).
