Head on over to Mozilla and get it while it's hot. No extensions or themes for it yet because it's so new though.

The Launchy extension works quite well with it, and with Firefox, too.

The only TBird extension I really need is one of those that will allow me to minimize it to the system tray. It's only been out for a day. Guess I'll have to wait a few weeks for the extensions to catch up.

Does anyone know if there is a way to detach attachments (I can do it, but I would like something simple)? There was an extention, but it has not been compatible with anything past 0.9.3.

Sure ... right-click on the attachment (in the attachment window) and select Delete.

Too easy! Except that it does not work. There is no choice to delete for the attachments, and if highlight, and click delete, I lose the entire message. This is in Thunderbird.

??? Of course it works, but I have the feeling that we're talking about two different things. I'm talking about attachments that you've added to a message in the composition window (see attachment). I suspect, however, that you're talking about deleting an attachment from a message you've received, correct?

What I don't understand is why you would want to.

Same problem. I would want to because if someone sent me text in the email that I want to save, then I would like to remove the attachment (which I have saved somewhere else if required) while keeping the email text itself.

That was what I was looking for. I will see how it works.
I usually save the text in a different way, but it is cumbersome.

    Hey Guys!

    You don't need an extension.

Right click the message, and select "Edit Message" from the context menu.
    OR
Click on: Message | Edit Message as new

    Delete the attachment
Click on: File | Save As | Draft

Now you can either leave it in the Drafts folder, or move the message wherever you wish...

The only problem I see with it (after only a few minutes use) is that, even though it can completely remove attachments, it doesn't remove the paper clip icon.

    Edit:

Thanks, Ramona ... that method really is a lot neater.

You are one step ahead of mine, which asks me to create a folder ( I don't) and then insists, five times, that the folder exists.
I got it. I had the toggle to detach when deleting or zapping. I don't understand why it is there, but it seems to run counter what one wants to do.

    working

working for me... with thunderbird 1.0. indeed, there is a little bug that the paperclip icon stays there in the message list. apart from that, great extenstion, hopefully to become integrated into thunderbird soon.
