I have just installed the info software Everest Home Edition ver 1.10.106
and get the following temperature readings.

    CPU ( Athlon 64 3400 ) 45c
    Hd 1 ( Seagate Barracuda 200gb ) 49c
    Hd 2 ( Seagate Barracuda 200gb ) 51c
Now here comes the big surprise Motherboard (MSI PT-2200 1.00 ) 72c

Is this temp okay or is it a sensor fault or a cooling problem ?
I have never seen any reference to motherboard operating temps and would have expected the temp to be much lower.
I would be grateful for any help .

These temps are within spec. But I would advise putting an 80mm fan in front of the HD's blowing air across them towards the rear of the case, and maybe an exhaust fan at the back. These HD's can run up to around 65. But I get worried when they are up around 50. With the above cooling my SATA drive now runs in the late 30's.

Also check and clean any dust from the CPU fan and heatsink fins.

I suspect the MB temp MAY be erroneous. If it were this hot then it would have failed. Does the inside of the case feel hot?

72F would be more like it.

You should recheck the temperatures by going into the BIOS settings at startup. Don't rely too much on software readouts, take them as a guide. I get strange voltage readings, but my system works fine.

Many thanks for the replys, I also thought the temp reading might be less than accurate i have just done a check immediately after startup approx 2min and the temps readings are as following:

    CPU ( Athlon 64 3400 ) 28c
    Hd 1 ( Seagate Barracuda 200gb ) 22c
    Hd 2 ( Seagate Barracuda 200gb ) 21c
    Motherboard (MSI PT-2200 1.00 ) 60c

I don't think that my kettle could warm up as quick as this so it must be a suspect reading.
    Again many thanks.
