ghostly notepad appearences

    Hello All,
    Wonder if someone can help. I am currently using windows xp, and everytime i boot up, i get all the usual startup, but then once i am on the main screen, my note pad keeps appearing showing the details below
    .
    [.ShellClassInfo]
    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787
    .
    does anyone know whats going on.....Thanks very much... :confused: :confused:

    It's a real common error. Might double check the M$ Instructions.

    Check in your registry for notepad.exe in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

    If it is there, it will open notepad every time you boot.

    Also check in Start>Programs>Start Up. If it is there, delete it.

    edit: I did this before going to Steve's link. Sorry :eek:
