    The instruction at ox01 82e916 The memory couldnot be written

    What is this and how can I prevent this?

    start -> run -> eventvwr.msc and locate the error in your event logs. When you find one, click it open then click on the icon below the up/down arrows and paste the contents here.

    your machine is crashing in explorer, and Drwatson is having difficulty in attaching to collect a proper error report.

    You have a couple options. This error can probably be troubleshot away, and this would be my recommendation. The other option is to install the debugging tools from microsoft, and do some active monitoring. I'd strongly recommend tshooting this problem first, before we resort to debugging it.


    Tshooting:
    1) run Adaware and Spybot and remove any garbage found
    2) run a virus scanner
    3) Get ShellExView and disable any non-microsoft shell extentions

    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/shellexview.html



    Debugging:
    Install the debugging tools for windows and run Adplus against explorer until the fault occurs. Collect dump and post for analysis. If this is needed, please let me know and i can post better instructions.

    found sp2 folder problem not opening

    fix for desktop folders not opening I went to start to run put (sysdm.cpl) or go to my computer to properties and then to 1.Advanced 2.settings 3.Data Execution Prevention
    put check in Turn on DEP for all Programs and services
    except those I select.

    and then put a check in the Windows explore box below.

    to be clear, you have hidden the problem by disabling the detection of the misbehaving software, and now exposed explorer (a high probability vector for future exploits) to future problems.

    I strongly advise you to follow the troubleshooting steps i posted above.

    No need to post output here. just sort by company name and disable everything thats not from microsoft. Then, you can run for a while and confirm you are stable. After you are sure of stability, enable half of them, and test. if its still stable, enable half of the remaining, etc.. until you have narrowed down which component causes the phenomenon.

    thank you for the derections on how to use shexView works neat.

    anyway problem seems to be gone after I went to Secuity Center and choose . Virus not Monitored I have Norton Virus and check off to monitor it myself now everything seems to work good .

    Are you saying that the Real Time Virus Monitor was causing the problem?

    Did you visit symantec to check for an update? Im not an advocate of running without an active virus scanner. I'd much rather see you get an update to the software to correct the problem, rather than disable it and go to a manual scan method.

    yes I update my norton virus all the time plus I keep it live up date turned on but I will try it again cause I did disable my shell toy and maybe thats what was causeing the problem I'll let you no .

    sp2 winxp home ed fix

    I turend virus monitor back on in Security Center I disabled shelltoy and Amercaonline on limited access . and everything is working great only thing I don't understand is when I start up computer at the desktop I get the window security alert telling Im at risk unknown virus protection and when I go into security center its says Norton antivurs reports that it is installed but it status is unknown . How do I correct that ?

    Norton AntiVirus
    Installing Service Pack 2 will not affect Norton AntiVirus. The Windows Security Center will be aware that you have Norton AntiVirus installed, but it will not be able to determine its working status due to Symantec's tamper-protection technology.
