I'm running Windows XP and IE 6.0

Whenever I launch IE, the window doesn't open to a full screen size.
I can enlarge it of course but it's a major annoyance because each link I click, also opens up half size.

And even after the windows have been enlarged to full screen, when I leave one and come back it later it's now reduced itself to half screen size again.

I can't find any settings for default screen size.

I don't have this problem with Netscape or Mozilla.

Has anybody seen this symptom before ?

    thanks ...

    Welcome to the board!

If you right click on the IE shortcut and click Properties. In the next window, select Maximised from the 'Run' list. Look at the attachment for help..

In future, the IE window should open in full screen..

    Thanks for the welcome paddy
    And thanks for the info.
That solved the problem when launching IE.

It didn't however solve the problem when opening a link in a new window.
I still get a half size window.

    -----------

dobhar ... i tried the procedure from your link but it didn't help either.

I'm reluctant to install any software at this time since I'm right in the middle of setting up a new computer.
It's more of a minor annoyance at this time ... another one of those things that didn't used to happen on the old computer.

    thanks

    Sir Gerald,

The same problem has been annoying me since one of the recent IE updates.

Downloaded IE Maximiser from dobhar's post - works a treat when launching links or a Google search!

Thanks for the link Kent :)

Close all windows except this one. Click here to open a new window. Drag (do not use the maximize button!) the new window until it fills the screen. Close this window and then close the new window. The sizes should now stick.

Should this not help, read the linked article!

    HTH.

After you drag the sides of a window to the desired size, hold the control key down as you click out on the X. That helps XP remember the size of the window when it is launched again.

Curiously that worked until recently as did Shift + File > Close or 'x', but no longer. I suspect one of last month's updates, but that may be coincidental.

Anyway IE Maximizer is now doing a grand job :D

That is odd, because I have every MS update, and it still works for me. (Control key/click out)

It seems the root of the problem is that some Windows open at small size (popups), then that size usurps the maximize.

I'm using the IE Maximizer. It seems to work.
