    Hi all...

Just an FYI Update to let you all know that TrojanScan site is back up but it is now run from Windowsecurity.com.
The URL has changed though...the new address is http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan/. The old link www.trojanscan.com does work...it just redirects you to the URL above.

    Unable to scan

When I tried to scan I got this message

Unable to scan D:\System Volume Information - Access is denied.

What do I do? Please. Anybody who knows. Thanks

System Volume Information is System Restore's files. The problem may that the system is denying access under the current user permissions. In that case, you need to run this test w/ full Admin rights.

Thanks. Running the scan now. Seems to be doing OK.

I do have to wonder though - it says the last trojan update was the 11th of this month. That's basically forever considering how frequently new baddies are hitting the internet.

Unable to scan C:\System Volume Information - Access is denied.

Same message on all drives scanned including those that are turned off in system restore. I am the administrator and as far as I know have full admistrator privleges.

Got the same message about not being able to deal with c:\system volume information that Martin did. And I did run it as an admin.

Also got the results in the picture. A little confused about
    Bad Request

Thanks for your input. I am Admin and only user on my notebook. How do I make myself with full Admin rights? Again, thanks, Charles.

    Hi El,

Did you look thru this thread? http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=32067

Daizy, Johanna & Maggie give ways of doing so.

If none of those work, try doing the scan in Safe Mode and see what happens.

The file system type also has a bearing on this - I run FAT32, so from what I'm reading - if NTFS, the methods of assigning rights may be different.

    Regards - Charles

    Newt,

    Ewido trojan scanner http://www.ewido.net/en/?section=downloads

Updates almost daily - sometimes more than once a day. Adds context menu and is NOT a startup. The paid version adds a resident blocker.

    Regards - Charles

    You're welcome kiasuteo,

Ewido, nice software isn't it, especially with those added goodies.

I have a question on the trojanscan site. I have a couple times used it myself and also have had clients use it. As in my case it goes about half way through and just sits there nothing else happens. Clients are telling me the same thing. fat32 as well as ntfs with admin rights.

    any ideas ???

I got a reply back from the site...
gghartman...on the scanner page is a "mailto:" link for feeback (Info@windowsecurity.com). This is what I used to ask the question on the "System Volume Information" error. They got back to me fairly quick. Give it a try.
