823559: Security Update

    Has anyone had a problem with windows update updating the same update repeatedly? For example you go to windows update
    site and select check for current updates and tells you you need the following etc updates you install as recommended reply from MS download is download successful. I went to check download history at MS site and this is what I get in reference to 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows:

    Successful Monday, January 19, 2004 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows
    Successful Tuesday, January 13, 2004 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows
    Successful Monday, December 29, 2003 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows
    Successful Saturday, December 27, 2003 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows
    Successful Thursday, December 11, 2003 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows
    Successful Tuesday, December 09, 2003 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows
    Successful Thursday, November 27, 2003 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows
    Successful Tuesday, August 05, 2003 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows .
    Has there been that many corrections made to that update, or is there some other problem here?
    Any input would be grateful.:confused:

    Are we having fun yet? :D

    Try couple of tips from HERE , or a tip from another forum:

    Go to the Windows Update page and under the "See Also "
    heading, select Windows Update Catalogue. The select "Find
    Updates for Microsoft Windows operating sytstem" and then
    select your specific operating system in the next window.

    You will then get the option of selecting CRITICAL UPDATES
    and two or three other things. Pick Critical Updates.

    Scroll through the list of critical updates until you find
    the one for 823559. Add it to your "shopping cart" and
    then click on the shopping cart selection. This will allow
    you to download the update file to your computer and
    install it locally rather than over the internet. Download
    it to your Desktop (or some other directory of your
    choosing) - double-click on the file, and it installs.

    Installing it locally finally worked for me. I'm using
    Windows 98 Second Edition.
