Like the helpful knowitall firend I can be, I was setting up someone's new PC. He had been using it, just one the default Administrator account. We set up one for him, and a guest account. I made the mistake of not transfering everything from the Admin account to the new account in his name. Then the Admni account stopped showing up with user accounts. I was able to access, through Explore Accounts, his photo and music files. But the folder under Administrator (in user accounts) markets Documents and Settings gives me an "access denied" message. I also can't recover the Outlook express account. Is this stuff gone for ever? i can't believe I ******* this up, but also that this entire user account seemed to disappear without warning. In the XP mega-manuals I have, there is absolutely nothing about this problem. Any ideas??

If you (or he/she/friend) are using the front end screen with the icons by each user account, the administrator account won't show up there if there are other accounts. You can do a tweak to make it appear again though.

And activating the guest account does a couple of odd things. I generally recommend it be disabled and if you want a generic account for "guests" make a normal user account.
