I tried to get into disk management, but it says I do not have rights. I logged in as admin in terminal. It says, "command completed successfully, "

but I still can't get in. What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you,
    Chris.

Hi Chris. Can you post the entire error message that you get when attempting to open the Disk Management window? Can you open up other Administrative tools ok like Event Viewer or the Windows Services window?

"you do not have access rights to logical disc manager on (my)-pc. "

Can't get into anything. Don't even see it. Just the box.

    Chris.

Hi Chris, This worked for me: Start Button > All Apps > Windows Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. Neil.

Enter LUSRMGR.MSC in the Run command to open the Local Users and Groups. Select Groups. Double click the Administrators group. Is the account you log into part of this group?

If not, then that's your problem. If that is the case you ca use the Users portion of LUSRMGR to double-click your account name and on the Member Of tab use the Add button to add your account to the Administrators group.

I was able to change it by editing the sethc.exe and cmd.exe. I forgot to change the sethc back to cmd. Haven't had any problems.

    Thank you for the help.

    Chris.

Nobody has mentioned what seems to be the easiest way which has always worked for me!
Right click the Windows Start button select Disk Management.
