    Hey guys

I have a problem with my external SSD drive. I have the exact same problem as stated here: http://www.windowsbbs.com/pc-hardware/107808-external-hard-drive-freezes-entire-computer.html . My pc freezes completely when I connect my ssd. I have tried everything that was advised in the thread but I still have the same problem. There were no virusses (used AVAST! and McAfee) and I did an sfc scan which had the same result. Could this be a problem with my bios?

    Thanks in advance.

    Steven

Hi stesteven, Welcome to WindowBBS. :) If you followed the procedure in the Thread link, did you run SFC scannow to check your files?
Also, could you provide the brand of the SSD you have in your external drive? Neil.

As noted in the thread to which you posted a link have you tried connecting the drive to another computer, and, if so, what was the outcome?

    Hey guys

@Retiredlearner: Yes I ran the SFC scannow on al my files on my pc and it said that there were no issues found. I have a Seagate Backup Plus 1Tb.

@PeteC: Yes I already tried this and it works perfectly fine. All my files are accesable.

I also tried to delete the BIOS cache but since I have a laptop (Acer v17 Nitro), it's not accesable using boot setup.

Note: In the previous thread, Varick stated that when he disconnects the ssd, his pc just picks up and runs fine. When I disconnect, nothing happens. I have to restart my pc with the powerbutten because everything freezes.

Thank you guys for such a fast answer, appreciate it!

    Steven

Does another external HD freeze the computer when inserted?

Do all the USB ports work as expected - have you switched the SSD between USB ports?

@peteC: No this is the only HD where I have this problem. All the USB ports work as expected, i tried the ssd with each port but the outcome is the same.

Including a computer running Windows 10?

It might be a good idea to try Seagate Support

Possibly be the port on the pc that might have an issue.
