I am trying to help my aunt who upgraded to Windows 10 on 11/13/15. Her locally built pc was running a Windows 7 32 bit os.
I went to file manager and the "windows.old folder is on her c drive. I then tried to recover her win 7 and got the error message "The files we need to take you back to a previous version of Windows have been removed from this computer "
    I thought she had 30 days...what should I do?
    Thanks

Like many others if you don't have the original Win7 disc with the key code there is not much you can do.

Hi geno368, Have you got W10 working or are you unable to boot into W7?
As MasterChief stated - without your original W7 Legit Media with Product Key I can only suggest you contact MS for their help. Neil.

Her computer has a valid Win 7 license and key..that is not the issue. The file "windows.old is on her c drive and that is the win 7 os. according to my info, she has 30 days to revert if she wants...and she does want to.

Are you sure she did not upgrade before the November update?

This is what I was going to ask. If she upgraded to W10, then applied the big TH2 (Threshold 2) update, she cannot roll back to W7.

That said, I recommend you try to sort out the issues she is having with W10 rather than go back to W7. W7 is already nearly 6 years old. W10 is much more secure out of the box and is faster too. And W10 will continue to be supported by Microsoft while W7's support will be ending.

If she just does not like the new start menu, check out Start10 or Classic Shell. I prefer Start10, but many find Classic Shell works just great for them. Start10 only cost $5 and IMO, is well worth it. But it has a 30 day trial period so she can try before she buys.
