I am running win 7 premium and have checked "allow device to wake computer "
on both keyboard and mouse but they don't wake it up. This is a custom built computer with an ECS motherboard and an I3 processor. How can I fix this? Thanks

Maybe you need to set it in BIOS? Neil.

Hi geno368. Before going to your computers BIOS click Start< Control Panel< System and Security< Power Options. Change the power plan to high performance. Then change the high performance power plan settings and make sure the USB selective suspend setting is set to disabled.

    See this link, http://imgur.com/TPTMqv5.

Also make sure the USB root hub is not set to be turned off. See this link, http://imgur.com/wt8SNUh.

In the Windows 7 power options, do you have hybrid sleep enabled? If so try turning it off and make sure your mouse and keyboard are plugged in directly to your motherboards USB ports.

I was on so I disabled it. I am using a ps2 keyboard and a wireless usb mouse plugged into the back usb port..I put it in sleep mode and waited about 10 minutes...it would not wake up with mouse or keyboard...should I do a cold boot and try again or do you have another suggestion?...Thanks

    Hi geno368,
I don't know the type of BIOS you have in ECS m/b, but in my Asus - Advanced Mode > APM > Power on by PS/2 Device. I have set to Enable > F10 > Save and Exit.
I don't want to interfere with Evan's advice, but if it doesn't work after a clean boot .... no harm checking. Neil.

Thanks for the replies...I did try the clean boot and it only worked 1 time with the usb mouse.
Learner, I did find the settings for usb and ps2 and enabled them but my ps2 keyboard has never been able to wake it up...
I am wondering if a bios update might help..mine is 2012...
The reason i need this function is that I am handicapped and it is hard to get down low on the floor to access the power switch..

Did you disable the power saving features for all the USB root hub entries in Device Manager?

Did this problem occur recently or has it been present ever since you've had the machine?

In Device Manager double click on each root hub in turn > Power Management tab
