    Hey Everyone,

For a couple of days now, I've been trying to fix a couple of errors on Windows Update. Before my Windows wasn't genuine, so when I activated it, a lot of updates flooded in, I think about 140?

    I've been struggling to install:

    Update for Windows (KB2732059)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 SP1 x86 (KB2978120)

And a couple of Display Language Packs, everytime I try to install the Display Language Packs, they fail, along with the Update for Windows. It said I successfully installed the Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 SP1 x86 (KB2978120) but when I check for updates, it still comes up.

I ran the Windows Update Trouble Shoot, and the only problem it found was:

Windows Update error 0x800F081F (2015-07-26-T-04_10_38P) Not Fixed

I'm also running SFC /SCANNOW in CMD, and it's 33% completed.

I've also tried to install the updates individually from the Windows Download Center, but they still don't work.

Just checked for updates again, and a new optional one came up along with the display language packs:

Definition Update for Microsoft Security Essentials - KB2310138 (Definition 1.203.487.0)

This update has also failed a couple of times.

At the moment I'm trying to install this update, along with the Update for Windows and the .NET Framework one, I'll post the results.

Finished the SFC Scan and it said:

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Oh and when I tried installing:

Definition Update for Microsoft Security Essentials - KB2310138 (Definition 1.203.487.0)
    Update for Windows (KB2732059)
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 SP1 x86 (KB2978120)

I got the error: Code 80246007

The Definitions one succeeded but the .NET Framework one and the Update for Windows failed.

While Windows Updates was trying to install them, MSE was on.

Hi FKATatiana, Welcome to WindowsBBS. :) Windows 7 can be tricky in some machines. While WU is working - leave it to do it's thing. Don't tax your comp by doing other work while WU is working especially with a large number of Updates.
It pays to do small blocks of Updates (5 to 10) at a time.
I've just put a new HDD in my daughters Acer Aspire 5742 laptop which has plenty of grunt in it, but I still installed small blocks of Updates and did the large Patches singly.
I had to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS first and once it was all set up - then the Updates had to be installed.
I had no problem - it took a few hours but the total of installed updates was around 210 without any Failures.
Make sure you have disconnected any peripherals while this is going on, Even wireless units can cause problems so it pays to use the Touchpad only on a laptop or an optical mouse (cable connect) until the job is complete - then you can re-connect your other goodies.
Taking time has worked for me and has been trouble free. Neil.

Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup

Put a check in ALL the boxes and then click OK then Delete. Then try again.

This seems interesting: Error code 0x80244015

The reply about opening IE and surf to a web site - then close IE and watch for the WU to flood. Neil.

I just ran Check Disk, and I did a Disk Cleanup. I can check for updates again, and at the moment I'm installing them. Oh and and it turns out I didn't have Internet Explorer installed, so I opened it, went to a random website and closed it. I'll update you guys on the results!

Thank you for all your suggestions!

Internet Explorer is ALWAYS installed. It is part of Windows and has been since the beginning.

Keep us posted if you run into any other problems with Windows Update. Is everything working ok now?

Actually, you can uninstall Internet Explorer in Windows 7 using the Turn Windows Features On or Off in Control Panel but the files for using IE are still present on the computer.

It turns out I already had the Update for Windows 2732059 installed, I just uninstalled it and installed it again successfully, now it's only the:

Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows 7 x86 (KB982670)

which keeps failing with error code 643.

Do you have any .Net framework installed at all already? Seen where you had to have earlier ones installed to get that one. Why it shows with the others not there I guess is MS secret. :)
