I just logged in to my laptop for the first time since yesterday and there is a new start menu format that I really do not like. There doesn't appear to be any way to change back to what I had set up or adjust what I have now.

Is Microsoft going the way of Apple in that they now tell you how to set up your PC instead of letting you do your own thing?

Screen shot of it would be nice. Mine on 2 different devices have been the same since day one.
Are you sure you are clean of Virus/Spyware/Malware?

Hi jshaw42, Welcome to WindowsBBS. :) A little more detail would help us to help you.
Have you been using W8.1 Start menu from new?
Do you have a 3rd. party Start Menu - Classic Shell/Start8 or???
Have you downloaded any new Software? Neil.

Thanks for the responses. Oddly enough, I shut down and left the laptop over night. This morning I was gong to do a screen shot and the start menu was back to the original format.

MrBill: I have scanned for virus and malware and found nothing unusual.

lj50: My ignorance has me baffled on entering system specs. I installed Speccy and the list is extremely long under "Operating System. "

Retiredlearner: Yes, I have been using start menu from the beginning. And, no, there is no 3rd party start menu and I have not downloaded any new software.

Load Speecy, click File > Publish Snapshot... > Yes > Copy to Clipboard > Close, then paste that link you just copied into a new response to this thread.

Hi jshaw42, just a simple Restart of the comp can sometimes be the answer. Good to see you're back to normal. :) Neil.
