    Hi friends

I have two PC one XpWin & other Vista in two different LAN that can intermittently cannot resolve web address eg yahoo.mail through both browsers, Chrome & FireFox (I don’t use IE). All other exactly similar PCs in these two LAN have no such problem.

I suspect it has is something to do with OS corruption in both this case. Appreciate guidance.

Try manually setting the DNS servers to use Google DNS in your router:
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4

    These are your ISP DNS:
    202.188.0.133
    202.188.1.5

Your ISP DNS has a lot of latency.
    Code:
    ping 202.188.0.133
    Bytes	Source Seq	Time	Units
    64	202.188.0.133	1	273	ms
    64	202.188.0.133	2	271	ms
    64	202.188.0.133	3	283	ms
    64	202.188.0.133	4	272	ms
    64	202.188.0.133	5	270	ms
    Time minimum:	270.00 ms
    Time average:	273.67 ms
    Time maximum:	283.00 ms
    Packets transmitted:	5
    Packets received:	5
    Successful packets:	100%
If still have problems resolving hosts then I suggest starting a thread in the Malware Forum.

Tracert shows failing to hop with ISP. Is this your point? TQ

I just found out that i was only able to access google search, nothing else in the most problem PC ie once i try to click on other link it does not resolved.

BUT ... disabling Avast antivirus then no problem to resolve.

    Now the question WHY?

The DNS is how domain names get resolved. If your ISP DNS cannot be reached then domains cannot be resolved. That's why I suggested different DNSs.

Check the Avast settings, it may be configured to use a proxy or have incorrect settings. Does Avast have a firewall? Check the firewall settings.

Just being told that sometimes it is caused by APIPA (Automatic Private IP Addressing).
If this is the case if we do ipconfig we will get address start 169.254.0.1 through 169.254.255.254.
    Any views on this. Cheers!

169.x.x.x addresses are assigned by Windows when the computer cannot obtain an IP address from the router (DHCP) or when static address fails.

Set a correct static IP address or use DHCP to get an IP from the router.
