    I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and run the Microsoft safety scanner in full mode. It stopped and blank my screen after a few minutes :confused:. I then manage to search a log file in /windows/debug/msert.log;

    Microsoft Safety Scanner v1.0, (build 1.193.1430.0)
    Started On Mon Mar 02 10:54:04 2015

    Extended Scan Results
    ----------------
    ->Scan ERROR: resource process://pid:3340,ProcessStart:130697845954149544 (code 0x00000005 (5))
    ->Scan ERROR: resource file://C:\hiberfil.sys (code 0x00000020 (32))
    ->Scan ERROR: resource file://C:\hiberfil.sys (code 0x00000020 (32))
    ->Scan ERROR: resource file://C:\pagefile.sys (code 0x00000020 (32))

    ->Scan ERROR: resource file://C:\pagefile.sys (code 0x00000020 (32)).

    Is this harmful virus or malware and how can I fix this?

    Thanks,

    Hi adb1056, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

    It looks like the scanner just couldn't scan the hiberfile.sys and the pagefile.sys files.

    Are you having any problems with your machine? Have you scanned your computer with a program like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to see if it found anything?

    Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

    Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

    Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

    Hi Evan,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    I also did a quick scan and no problem found. I also did my system details. I would assumed that I'm okay and ignore this message.

    If you are not having any problems then you can ignore the message but if you want to check your system for any malware infections which I would recommend, then you should create a new thread in the Malware and Virus Removal Forum as Arie has instructed in the previous post.
