I have a HP lap top running windows 8.1 every thing was fine up until I installed a netgear wireless ac adapter a6200. Before I added it I could close my lid and have the screen come to life when I opened it. now after I have in staled the new usb adapter and when close the lid and reopen it all I get is a black screen but power and every thing is on. I have to shut it down than back on to get it too work. I also have to turn the Wi-Fi on my laptop on and off a few times to get the Wi-Fi to work.. Any ideas what's going on ? thanks in advance..

Hi jimbo0706, You don't mention your HP Laptop model and specs. My question would be - Did your laptop connect to the internet before you installed the netgear wireless ac adapter a6200?
I'm currently using my HP Notebook 1000 W8.1 which has WiFi built in. I have no need to use an external USB device to get onto the internet. This laptop just connects to the Fritzbox wireless modem/router from anywhere in the house.
You may have something conflicting if you have 2 wireless adapters working at once. Neil.

Have you looked in Power Options to see if something has changed?
Control Panel > Power Options. May have changed to Shutdown when lid is closed. Neil.

It may have been triggered by Netgear software. Hope it fixes your problem. Cheers Neil.
